Journalism
As a journalist I've written for national newspapers, professional and trade publications, member magazines and craft publications. I've interviewed the famous, the expert and the talented. I've investigated political and business issues, written opinion pieces and reviews and come to understand complex and technical products and issues. Not to put too fine a point on things, I'm nosy and enthusiastic, if you set me a brief, I'll find interesting case studies and engaging interviewees and deliver lively accurate copy - and if it's about craft, knitting or jewellery you'll also get my deep understanding of those topics. You can find more about my writing on the cuttings page (under construction) and at www.bromiskelly.com. I am currently seeking freelance commissions in the crafting area - show reviews, feature and interviews - from whatever happened to macrame to what machine knitting can offer dyed-in-the-wool hand knitters or what makes a designer tick, I can deliver on time and on brief. I also regularly write on small business matters with a specific focus on the handmade and jewellery sector. |
Editing
I also bring more than a decade of experience as a magazine and website editor. While this has mainly been in the B2B sector, I have experience of a range of magazine styles including news stand consumer-style monthlies.
Currently I am working on the content for newsletters and marketing materials for various clients in the crafting world as well as updating a business guide for small creative enterprises
In my varied experience of launching new publications and revamping existing ones, I have built a track record in creating the right content for an audience a long with the right design style and am a strong believer that a visually engaging publication helps deliver information.
I’m available to edit supplements, review editorial plans, work with you on new print and/or web projects, or help develop existing ones.
I also have experience of copy editing and proof reading craft books.
Contact me to discuss any of this.
